DIC to launch first Russian Innovation Facility

Dubai Internet City (DIC) is helping to strengthen the UAE’s relationship with Russia, with the launch of a specialist facility for digital innovation, the first-ever of its kind outside the country.

DIC announced at GITEX Technology Week that it has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Russian Export Center (REC) to launch the Russian Center for Digital Innovations and Information and Communication Technologies, the first outside Russia, and the first-ever commitment to investment promotion of this scale by Russia abroad.

The MoU was signed by Ammar Al Malik, Managing Director, Dubai Internet City and Dubai Outsource City and Marat Korovaev, Head of IT Export Support Department, Russian Export Center. Al Malik says the new facility will give Russian technology companies of all sizes the support they need to gain a foothold in the region, and will help to strengthen business relationships between the UAE and Russia. “For DIC to be chosen as the first overseas destination by REC is a true testament to Dubai’s key position as a global business destination,” he says.

In addition to opening the new facility, which take up a space of over 20,000 square feet within DIC, the REC and DIC will jointly work to support Russia and UAE based technology companies, including start-ups and entrepreneurs.
